This quick guide will help you download, install, and activate Microsoft Office 2024 Professional Plus on your Windows PC.
What You Need Before Starting
Make sure you have:
- A valid Office 2024 Professional Plus key (you find it in your e-mail and in My keys)
- A Windows 10 or Windows 11 PC
- An internet connection
- Access to a Microsoft Account (free)
Tip: if an older Office version is installed (for example Office 2016, 2019 or 2021), uninstall it first in Settings > Apps > Installed apps. Two Office versions side by side often cause installation or activation errors.
Step 1 – Download Office 2024
Option A – Download from Microsoft (Recommended)
- Go to https://setup.office.com/
- Sign in with your Microsoft Account.
- Enter your Office 2024 product key.
- Choose your language.
- Click Download.
Your Office installer (.exe file) will now download to your Downloads folder.
Option B – Download the Official Installation File (Alternative)
If the Microsoft setup page doesn’t work or you prefer an installation file, download Office 2024 Professional Plus directly from Microsoft’s servers. The file is about 5.5 GB.
When the download has finished, double-click the ProPlus2024Retail.img file. Windows opens it like a DVD drive; inside you find Setup.exe.
Step 2 – Install Office 2024
- Open the downloaded file: Setup.exe
- If Windows asks: “Do you want to allow this app to make changes?” – Click Yes.
- The installation will begin automatically.
- Wait until you see the message:
“You’re all set! Office is installed now.” - Click Close.
That’s it – Office is installed on your PC!
Step 3 – Activate Office 2024
Automatic Activation
- Open Word, Excel, or any Office app.
- If asked, sign in with the same Microsoft Account you used earlier.
- Office will activate automatically.
Enter the Key Manually (if prompted)
If the activation window appears:
- Click Enter Product Key.
- Type your 25-character Office key.
- Click Activate.
How to Check if Activation Worked
- Open any Office app (e.g., Word).
- Go to File > Account.
- Look for Product Activated under Product Information.
If you see “Activated”, you’re done!
